Sofia Escobar concluiu o curso de canto do Conservatório do Porto. Passou pelas salas do teatro musical no Teatro Rivoli, no Porto, e no Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, em Lisboa.
Posteriormente foi para Londres estudar canto e representação na Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Aqui, conquistou o papel protagonista de duas das maiores peças de sempre: Fantasma da Ópera e West Side Story. Com este último, seguiu em digressão mundial. Interpretou também o papel de Maria na produção comemorativa do 50.º Aniversário de West Side Story, de Leonard Bernstein, no West End de Londres, seguindo-se digressões no Reino Unido, em França, em Itália e na Malásia. Em 2022 interpreta Maria Rainer em Sound of Music, na versão concerto em Portugal.
Muito elogiada pela crítica londrina, Sofia Escobar recebeu o prémio para “Melhor Atriz num Musical” nos Whatsonstage Theatregoer’s Choice Awards e foi nomeada na mesma categoria para os prémios Laurence Olivier pela sua atuação em West Side Story.
Em 2019 interpreta o papel de Mary, a protagonista do musical espanhol "El Médico”, que é considerado por vários críticos o musical nº1 em Madrid. Recebe em Espanha o Prémio.
Em televisão participou na série de sucesso Morangos Com Açúcar e fez parte do elenco principal da novela Ouro Verde. Em 2019 regressa como jurada do programa Got Talent Portugal.
Sofia Escobar completed her singing course at the Porto Conservatory. She passed by the musical theater rooms at Teatro Rivoli, in Porto, and at Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, in Lisbon.
Later she went to London to study singing and acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Here, she won the leading role in two of the greatest plays of all time: Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story. With the latter, she went on a world tour. She also played the role of Maria in Leonard Bernstein's 50th Anniversary production of West Side Story in London's West End, followed by tours in the UK, France, Italy and Malaysia. In 2022 she will perform Maria Rainer in the concert version of Sound of Music in Portugal.
Highly praised by London critics, Sofia Escobar received the award for "Best Actress in a Musical" at the Whatsonstage Theatregoer's Choice Awards and was nominated in the same category for the Laurence Olivier awards for her performance in West Side Story.
In 2019 she plays the role of Mary, the protagonist of the Spanish musical "El Médico", which is considered by several critics to be the #1 musical in Madrid. She receives the Award in Spain.
On television she participated in the hit series Strawberries With Sugar and was part of the main cast of the soap opera Ouro Verde. In 2019 she returns as a juror in the program Got Talent Portugal.
